MODA Mall, Bahrain’s ultra-modern shopping destination located on the ground floor at Bahrain World Trade Center (BWTC), is hosting a unique vintage international shoe exhibition entitled: ‘A Shoe Story’, which has travelled to the Middle East for the first time. The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Al Balooshi, the Minister of Human Rights and Social Development. The inaugural event was attended by Mr. Qays H. Zu’bi, Honorary Consul for Canada, Mr. Kenneth Norman, chair and co-founder of the exhibition, members of the press and distinguished guests.
This exclusive exhibition positions Bahrain as a tourist destination, showcasing examples of more than 80 pairs of footwear spanning the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The exhibits are from the Fashion History Museum in Ontario, Canada, which include well-heeled shoes of the 18th century, shoes flat soles and square toes from 1800 to 1840, propriety shoes from 1840 to1865, ready-to-wear shoes from 1865 to 1900, changing tastes shoes from 1900 to 1925, in full view shoes from 1925 to 1950, buying the best - the designers, and fashion footwear since 1975.
Shoe lovers will have the unique opportunity to glimpse footwear worn by Lauren Becall, one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, Ginger Rogers, Hollywood's highest paid star of 1942 and Imelda Marcos, world-renowned for her extensive shoe collection, in addition to other fascinating show pieces. The exhibition is open to the general public from today until 16th June 2012.

افتتاح معرض فريد للأحذية التاريخية العالمية بعنوان " اسطورة حذاء " يقام للمرة الأولى في منطقة الشرق الأوسط. وافتتحت المعرض رسميا سعادة الدكتورة فاطمة البلوشي، وزيرة حقوق الإنسان والتنمية الاجتماعية، وحضر الافتتاح السيد قيس الزعبي، القنصل الفخري لكندا في البحرين، والسيد كينيث نورمان، الرئيس والمؤسس الشريك للمعرض، وممثلو وسائل الإعلام، وضيوف مميزون.
ويساهم هذا المعرض الحصري في الترويج للبحرين كوجهة سياحية، حيث يعرض أكثر من 80 زوج أحذية كنماذج على الأحذية التي ارتدتها النساء في القرون الثامن عشر والتاسع عشر والعشرين. وتم استقدام هذه الأحذية من متحف تاريخ الموضة في أونتاريو في كندا، وهي تتضمن الأحذية الارستقراطية ذات الكعب العالي في القرن الثامن عشر، والأحذية ذات النعل المسطح والمقدمة المربعة بين الأعوام 1800 و 1840، وأحذية ذات ملكية خاصة بين الأعوام 1840 و 1865، وأحذية جاهزة بين الأعوام 1865 و 1900، والأحذية التي عكست أذواقا مختلفة بين الأعوام 1900 و 1925، والأحذية المكشوفة من 1925 وحتى 1950، والأحذية الشهيرة ذات التصميمات الخاصة منذ عام 1975 وحتى اليوم.
وستتوفر لعشاق الأحذية فرصة نادرة لمشاهدة أحذية لأكبر بيوت الموضة والتي ارتدتها بعض الشهيرات مثل لورين بيكال، وهي واحدة من بين أجمل 50 امرأة في العالم، وجينجر روجرز ، ممثلة هوليوود الأعلى أجرا عام 1942، وإيميلدا ماركوس، المرأة التي اشتهرت بمجموعتها الكبيرة من الأحذية، إضافة إلى أحذية رائعة على مر الزمن. وسيكون المعرض مفتوحا لعامة الجمهور من اليوم وحتى 16 يونيو 2012.
