What happens when 16 local artists are given Porsche 911 hoods to manipulate as they please? As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, Porsche Centre Lebanon launched its Porsche Arts for Society initiative: PArtS. The first project under this initiative is “Hoods for Heritage”: Sixteen local artists from different industries were each given a Porsche 911 hood. These artists, working each from a different perspective, have transformed these hoods from integral elements of a car to stand-alone pieces of art.

“PArtS was initiated with the clear conviction that giving back to society is every citizen’s duty,” said Mr. Assaad Raphael, Chairman of Porsche Centre Lebanon, “it is the amalgamation of art and industry at the service of the population.” Mr. Raphael added “our mission statement is very clear: maximize the return on our efforts to finance the honourable needs of Lebanese foundations.”

Proceeds from the first PArtS project: “Hoods for Heritage” will support the efforts of The National Heritage Foundation when the transformed hoods will be auctioned off at a gala dinner organized by the NHF in September.

The National Heritage Foundation, established in 1996, is a non-governmental and non-profit organization committed to the protection and preservation of Lebanese heritage. Since its inception, the foundation has rescued and rehabilitated numerous sites of historical and national importance such as the Beirut National Museum. For her part, Mrs. Mouna Haraoui, President of the National Heritage Foundation said: “the collective effort behind this event is testimony of all our love for Lebanon. We extend our deep appreciation to all those who supported and encouraged us by partaking of their time, skill and knowledge.”

The works of art will be exhibited to the general public, prior to their sale, at Villa Audi, Charles Malek Avenue in Achrafieh until September 4th, 2012!
