The Women in My Life > Cookbook by Rasha Al-Hejailan @Rashoona

This Ramadan Oasis received a cookbook entitled Women in My Life. The journal-like cookbook brings together the recipes of loved ones and gives back to two different charities. Talk about the spirit of Ramadan and Eid!

"I contacted the women in my life and asked them to donate their signature dishes, to what would become a collaborative cookbook. This process would also get me back in touch with them and teach me new things."

28-year old Saudi Rasha Al-Hejeilan was born in Saudi, spent her teenage years in Australia, then moved to the UK, spent a year in Denmark, and currently lives in Kuwait. Throughout her life abroad she undoubtedly lost contact with a lot of the most important people in her life from relatives to friends.

Rasha decided to create, what she likes to call, a recipe journal. The first part of this cookbook or journal are Rasha's recipes that bring back memories of her loved ones. The other half are recipes by the women in her life, from her mother to cousins, and friends.

part of my book’s sale proceeds go to two different charities that help children in need. One is ‘Helping Hands KSA’ a charity in Saudi Arabia that directly supports underprivileged children. The other is a newly established pediatric care department at ‘Fawzia Sultan Rehabilitation Institute (FSRI)’ in Kuwait.
