Maha Malluh 2008 |
The show aims to shed light on the diverse interpretations of women artists to a common theme
of representing women as a subject. The exhibition features the works of renowned and
emerging artists, together creating a dynamic visual dialogue for the general public. The works
will rectify a common misconception of the missing figurative representations present in Saudi art;
it will also reveal the artists diversity in perceiving the subject and reasons behind their choice of
medium.
The works shown are supported by a visual timeline of milestone events of the Saudi women in
society, that perhaps created a context that influenced these artists to produce their works in that
specific time, these influences could range from the social, the political or the religious.
