Newsha Tavakolian (b. 1981-Iran), is a self-taught photographer, whose passion for photography pushed her to seek work as a professional photographer from the age of 16. She started working for major international newspapers and magazines from the age of 21, covering wars, natural disasters, and social documentaries in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. Today, she is known for highlighting women's issues and working between documentary photography and art.
