Nedda El Asmar Is an award-winning Palestinian artist based in Antwerp, Belgium. Her intricate craftsmanship is evident in all her designs and can be traced back to her high academic degrees in Jewelry Design and Silversmithing from the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Antwerp and from the Royal College of Art in London.
At Abu Dhabi Art 2009, she presented a multimedia project of past work, while incorporating new ideas into her new series. As a resident of Western Europe, Nedda explained how the event's location in Abu Dhabi in particular had been such great way to communicate with fellow artists. She stated that it was “very interesting to meet other artists and designers, and to witness what has been happening in recent years in the Middle East on the design scene.”
Nedda is known for her sleek designs that have been favorites in design fairs internationally and have been picked up and are now represented by some of the leading design boutiques worldwide. Nedda has also created designs for leading international brands such as: Hermès, Puiforcat, Eternum, Gense, Villeroy & Boch, Robbe & Berking, Obumex, Vange, Demeyere and Carl Mertens.
