Oasis Magazine is Tweeting Live: Murakami, Art World Phenomenon, First Time in the Middle East > Opening Tonight! (Doha)

Take a journey into Japanese pop culture with one of the most prolific contemporary artists of our time. EGO - Takashi Murakami’s first ever exhibit in the Middle East – is an interactive installation featuring circus tents, indoor cinemas, statues, paintings, and multimedia displays.

Named one of Time magazine's ‘100 Most Influential People’ in 2008, Murakami is an art world phenomenon. Throughout his 20 year career he’s directed music videos for Kanye West, seen his work sell for over $15 million at auction, conceived the ‘superflat’ design aesthetic and led the Kaikai Kiki art collective to international acclaim.

The Murakami exhibit launches the Qatar Japan 2012 program and highlights the special relationship the two countries share. It’s the largest collection of his work ever presented to the public and showcases both the diversity of Takashi Murakami’s art mediums and the singularity of his vision. Don’t miss it.

EGO will be on display from February 9 to June 24, 2012.
