Sabrina Amrani Art Gallery is hosting the first exhibition in Europe of the Dubai based artist UBIK (India, 1985). 'Dissident' is a show that perverts with black humor and satire the classic codes of propaganda.
'Dissident' is meant to be a crossword trying to resolve the Palestinian conflict, with bottles of Coca-Cola serving as Molotov cocktails and shirts with revolutionary marketing guidelines. This is UBIK's personal view on the absurdities of the world order with which the artist infuses and disseminates his "own brand of propaganda." UBIK describes his work as: "post-recession anarchist tendencies that make people smile ... or shake."
'Dissident' explores the unique and quirky aesthetics and the language of war, revolutions, anarchy and politics of modern times. The show acts as an introduction to UBIK's work in Europe. UBIK's works revolves around tackling socio-political issues, with his own brand of dark humor and satire.
