OPPORTUNITY FOR MENA ARTISTS: Apply now for the 2013 Watermill Center-ArteEast Residency

In 2011, ArteEast launched a Residency Initiative to fund artists from the Middle East and North Africa at leading U.S.-based residencies.  Through this program, ArteEast aims to catalyze new cultural production in the MENA region and diaspora and to open doors to a wider international arts community. The initiative was launched by partnering with the Watermill Center in Long Island, New York, to support one residency per year for an artist based in the region at their prestigious residency program. The 2011 recipient of the residency was Abbas Akhavan.
The Watermill-ArteEast 2013 resident will be included in the Watermill Center Spring 2013 residency program (January - June 2013).  He or she will receive funding for travel and accommodation and will be expected to give an artist talk about the work done in residence.
About the Watermill Center: Founded in 2006 as an interdisciplinary laboratory, the Watermill Center is located in Long Island, NY and serves as a place for young and emerging artists to work, learn, create, and grow with each other, by integrating performing arts practice with resources from the humanities, research from the sciences, and inspiration from the visual arts. For more information on The Watermill Center and to see the works produced by earlier residents see here.
