Sarah Al Dabbagh has spent the better part of her life planning the ultimate weddings. Al Dabbagh recalls her passion for ceremony and celebration to Oasis Magazine, and how she came to create Lace Events. “Simply, I’ve always wanted to be a wedding planner. Ever since I could remember, I’ve had a great passion for ceremony and celebration, spending my days dressing Barbie dolls as little brides, to making wedding scrapbooks filled with little cutouts and pictures. As a teenager, my mom noticed the detailed comments I always came home with after the weddings we would attend and how I would hunt for any reason to throw a party and embellish it with lush floral designs.”
Sarah’s first attempt at taking her passion to the next level, was her high school graduation, where she created a variety of table settings. “This achievement gave me the confidence to take things to a larger scale,” commented Sarah whose next event would be her cousin’s wedding. “The guests congratulated me at the end of that wonderful evening. I was a senior at university at that time, but I knew then that no matter how tired or worn down I was nothing could beat the joy of turning people’s wishes and dreams into reality. From then on, my love flourished into a passion... and then came Lace in 2011.”
The 25-year old Jeddah native chose the name “Lace”, which is her favorite timeless fabric, to evoke and relate to all would-be brides. Her inspiration starts from her travels, constant researching, and of course her passion. Al Dabbagh continues, “Everything around me inspires me, from fashion, to architecture, to nature and the outdoors.”

Where have you planned weddings so far?
I’ve planned weddings in Bahrain and Kuwait so far and truly enjoyed every step of planning both as much. It was a challenge at the beginning, since I had to come out of my comfort zone early on. I learned a lot from planning destination weddings only five months into my career.
What’s the most exciting part of planning each wedding?
I really enjoy creating various inspiration boards at the start of each event and coming up with a theme gives me great excitement. But, I must say my favorite part is the “big” day, the day of the wedding, when my sketches and the bride’s dreams become reality. It is the greatest pleasure to see it all come together. Nothing beats that special feeling of fulfillment when a planner sees a happy bride.
What has been your greatest accomplishment so far?
Lace is my greatest accomplishment. It is my baby, my dream and what gives meaning to my life.
If you could change anything about weddings, what would that be?
In my eyes, every wedding has its own story, its beautiful tradition and its historic relevance. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Have you felt that this young and connected generation have changed anything about weddings or even added more exciting elements?
It definitely has added much more! Social media networks, such as Pinterest, are considered great sources of inspiration for brides to be. It helps them find creative ideas for their big day. Therefore, making their lives a bit easier.
What would you like to be known for in the wedding planning business?
Modestly, “the one who simply brought my dream to life.”
