Get to Know the Ladies Behind @trickponi in @oasismag ' s Latest Gossip Issue

“Our goal is to expand that bridge between East and West, so that good fashion, innovation and beautiful design is not bound by geography,” says the duo behind fashion showroom and design management Trickponi. Sara Al-Ajroush and Serene Xefos, Trickponi’s duo, find themselves equally at home in Riyadh, Jeddah, London, Beirut and New York.

In creating Trickponi, Sara and Serene sought to give the Middle East a taste of the independent and upcoming fashion scene in New York, while at the same time giving that same exposure to upcoming Middle Eastern designers in the US.
Trickponi officially launched in the Summer of 2012 at a time when the Middle East was experiencing a rising awareness in fashion and design. Today, Trickponi has two physical showrooms in Saudi Arabia, one in Riyadh and the other in Jeddah, and represent four designers, including: Salma Redwan, Shosh New York, L’atelier Nawbar, and Winky Wu.

When asked who their favorite designers are, Trickponi mentioned that they are: “Not only the hip ateliers scattered across Beirut – our favorite of course being our one and only L’atelier Nawbar - but also cutting edge fashion designers across the Gulf like Amina Al Jassim and Mohammed Ashi. We are seeing more and more fashion bloggers, fashion icons, and the independent fashion designers springing up across the region.

We feel with this boom in fashion, creativity, and thinking outside the box, is an era Trickponi fits perfectly in. We grow, enable, foster, and encourage our designers to reach their highest potential on a global scale by promoting their brands and creating a spectacle of their lines for all the fashion community – from bloggers to buyers – to enjoy.”

What makes Trickponi unique is that they are amongst only a handful of showrooms in the Middle East that are an entirely customizable service provider. Trickponi goes beyond a regular fashion showroom’s resposibilities and tailor’s their services to their customers’ needs whether managing anything from social media, branding, look books, to events, and exhibitions.

“We want to be a catalyst for change, moving Saudis away from all the name brands to innovative and modern designers who are coming up into the market and building their brands. Our goal is to push the envelope just enough whilst ensuring we are feeding market (fashion) demand and gaps – we hope to introduce fresh, cutting edge and exciting brands coming out of our region, but also from other regions like the US, Asia and Europe.  Soon, as we continue to grow in size, we will turn our focus to Asia as well,” Trickponi.
