Within less than two months of its launch, www.shoesanddrama.com championed as one of the top online influencers for fashion in the Middle East. Founded by Saudi fashion editor and luxury consultant, Marriam N Mossalli, this site isn’t your run-of-the-mill blogs. In fact, it’s more of the “anti-blog of blogs.”
“We’re not a bunch of teenagers telling you how exciting it was to sit front row next to Kim Kardashian!” explains Mossalli.
“We’re in it for the fashion…okay, and sometimes the freebies!” she jokes. S&D offers a technical critique about the changing fashion field, hence the “drama” part. “We’re really content heavy; I’d like to think of us as the Vanity Fair of the Middle East—only a little more vain!”
Having evolved into a website, Mossalli is the Editor-in-Chief that oversees a five-person editorial team based in the KSA, Spain, NYC, Dubai, and Italy. “We’re a website written in the manner of a blog, meaning it’s a collaborative effort, yet with the unique personalities and expertise of each of our editors and writers.” With sections such as “Cocktails & Stilettos” covering fashion events and “Beauty & the Booty” providing the latest in beauty and cosmetic procedures, you can expect
way more than fashion truth from these girls! “We want to become a platform for many voices and are excited to have a variety of contributors,” added Mossalli, who hinted to Oasis that a group of “famous TV doctors” are soon to come on board as exclusive contributors to S&D.
S&D has become popular among disillusioned fashion lover, who shares the same disappointment at the current state of the fashion scene, where PR agents and 18-year old bloggers have replaced the Suzy Menkeses, Nichole Phelpses, and Cathryn Horns of the industry. Just read Marriam’s introduction.
You’ll get the picture… quick.
Targeting the 25-year old and up, S&D is for the young entrepreneur or busy mom, who doesn’t have time to scour the internet for the perfect day-to-night outfit, or formal gown. Essentially, S&D offers curated fashion, unbiased by celebrity endorsements and “street style” trends of Top Shop and H&M.
They’re fashion elitists and they’re pretty proud of it!
