"From Moroccan mother and French father, Younes Duret has always lived between those two countries. Casablanca is the cradle of his childhood which he has known throughout his teen years in Arcachon, Paris is the city where he studied design, and Marrakech is where he founded his design agency. Ask him which country he prefers. He will tell you that origins coexist harmoniously in him, deep in his heart. Younes prefers bring together, with a lot of humor and love, those two cultures which seem to be so divergent."
Marrakech 4 Ever:
Pimp Souk:
Through his designs, Younes creates objects that are borderless. These objects are the medium he chooses to repair prejudices. His humorous designs and this mix of cultures is what we love. His designs just manage to make us smile. Such witty and beautiful concepts. It's no wonder that this designer who has been called a visionary, has won countless awards for his designs. Oasis Magazine interviews him in 2009 (view feature here) and have continued to follow his progress.
Tea Love: These modern designs (the tray or Srone and t-shirt) only become complete when the tea is added. The hot pot of tea when rested on the tray reveals arabesque designs that are hidden. And the t-shirt has to be soaked in tea to reveal the designs on it.
The Zelli: This award-winning bookshelf design is beautiful and so easy to assemble! Just watch Younes assembling it in this video.

Education: Younes attended the prestigious school of industrial design ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris. During his five years of study, he invented a new concept car for Renault, created new glasses for CEBE, decorated a riad in the medina of Marrakec, and he even conceived a modular tricycle called BELEK which was awarded by the world of Design; first by the Jury of ENSCI in 2005 and a year later by the Mark Charras Price of Creation and invention at the Biennale Internationale de Design Industriel in Saint Etienne.
Younes Duret Design: is Younes' design agency. In 2009, the agency created a restaurant-club on more than 700 m2 located in the heart of Marrakech. The famous Zelli bookcase, awarded by the Design and Design prize and exhibited at the Emirates Palace for the Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2009, the Bildi teapot but also the Fauteuil Pouf, and the Zellifood dish are objects created and marketed by Younes Duret Design. The Moroccan Ministry of Crafts have also asked him to create a line of products which aim to upgrade the Damasquinerie’s craft of the city of Meknes.
