To mark the opening of their new art
centre in London on 7th March, Edge of Arabia and The Crossway Foundation are proud to
present It’s a Project, a multimedia
exhibition exploring the organisations’ border-crossing work between the Middle
East and UK since 2003. The exhibition will present artworks, films, project
paraphernalia and interactive displays, inviting the viewer to re-live an
extraordinary journey, from the mountains of southern Saudi Arabia, via nine
international exhibitions and seven youth expeditions, to the opening of this
new collaborative space in Battersea’s thriving creative industries hub.
Featuring key works, films and materials from projects
in Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, UAE, Oman and Europe, this
introduction to our work aims to inspire greater collaboration between London's
creative community and the emerging contemporary arts movement in Saudi Arabia
and the wider Middle East. The space, which is situated in an old ice storage
warehouse next to the Royal College of Art, and amongst a community of creative
industry pioneers including Vivienne Westwood, Alsop Architecture, Squint
Opera, Foster + Partners, and a stone’s throw from Chelsea galleries, will not
only contain a 4000 sq. ft gallery space but also a library, education centre and
office hub for partner organisations and entrtepreneurs.
It’s a
Project will feature flagstone works
from key Edge of Arabia exhibitions and include a selection of available
limited edition prints, published by EOA.Projects in collaboration with leading
UK print-houses. All funds raised will be reinvested into Edge of Arabia and
Crossway Foundation’s local educational programme.
