Oasis Magazine Goes To Maldives > Niyama: Nature's Playground (Images & Inside Scoop)

View from our beach studio with private pool

This summer we headed to Niyama Resort in the Maldives. Opening in 2012, Niyama is one of the latest additions to the Maldives. As soon as we touched down at the airport, we were whisked away to the Niyama lounge. There, you start to get the feel of the resort. The WIFI password is "fantastic" giving you a glimpse of the playfulness of Niyama.

After a 40 minute seaplane ride, we arrived at Niyama where we were warmly greeted and introduced to our butler or "Thakuru". We hopped on the buggy and our Thakuru took us on a tour of the island then to our lovely beach studio with private pool.

The Studio: (pictures below)
  • Gorgeous sea views
  • Refreshing private pool
  • Beautiful out door bathroom

Playful Details: (pictures below)
  • The room keys are waterproof bracelets! (We loved these keys - so convenient)
  • The Mini Bar is an normal-sized fridge!
  • Every day there are complimentary home-made ice-creams (in your room freezer)
  • Complimentary pop corn machine (for those rainy days when you just want to stay in)
  • The Deli (perfect for a quick lunch or snack - homemade sandwiches, cakes, & juices)
  • Active: play games at Active (the first simulator games room in the Maldives)

Environmental Awareness:
  • Coral reef adoption is one of the unique programs available at Niyama (we snorkeled with marine biologist Maxime Beraud who gave us a brief introduction on the importance of coral reefs)
  • The products used REN skincare which are organic and eco friendly products

  • Tribal: an African-inspired restaurant with cuisine that blends African, Asian, & South American favorites
  • At The Edge: accessible only by boat, is an exclusive overwater restaurant.
  • Private dinners/destination dining
  • Epicure: all-day dining including breakfast

Privacy:

  • Resorts in the Maldives are generally private but for extra privacy in Niyama, ask for The Crescent rooms, which are over water studios perfect for a large family.
